The town of Pekin claims the distinction of having the oldest consecutive Independence Day celebration in the United States of America. Pekin began celebrating Independence Day in the year 1830. The Festival includes a parade, fireworks, Cornhole Tournament, Royalty contests, concerts and much more. The 4th of July celebration managed by the Pekin Community Betterment Organization, INC is a non-profit organization that is 100% operated by volunteers and fully funded by sponsors, donors, and grants.
