Spring

Sugarbush Maple Syrup Festival

The annual Sugarbush Maple Syrup Festival takes place at the end of February / beginning of March as the Maple Syrup is flowing from the trees on the 140 acre family farm. Sugarbush was established in 1981 as Leane and Michael’s Sugarbush. Leane and Michael's Sugarbush became LM Sugarbush LLC in October, 2013. The business is now owned and operated by Nicholas and Jennifer Reisenbichler and Robert and Emily Blackman.

Tour the sugarbush and learn about modern sap collecting  and watch the sap being boiled down. Enjoy some delicious pancakes and waffles, finger lickin’ good BBQ, toe tappin’ music, tours of the farm, craft and food vendors as well as many activities and games.

Summer

Washington County Indiana Farmers Merchants Fair

The Washington County Farmers and Merchants Fair is a free fair held each year at the Washington County Fairgrounds. The Fair includes livestock exhibiting and judging, craft exhibits and judging, midway rides and more.

 

Pekin's 4th of July Celebration

The town of New Pekin claims the distinction of having the oldest consecutive Independence Day celebration in the United States of America. Pekin began celebrating Independence Day in the year 1830. Few historical facts about the earliest celebrations exist, with the information available coming from oral tradition. The first several celebrations were said to be neighborhood affairs, though it is assumed that it did not stay that way for long.

Beck's Mill Birthday Celebration

Historic Beck's Mill celebrates the mill's birthday during late August with special event featuring birthday cake, corn grinding in the mill, wool spinning, blacksmithing and tomahawk throwing among other family friendly activities.

Fall

Grind XI Andersen/Goode Memorial 5k/ Chicken Barbecue - September

The 5K Run/Walk honors Beck family members and the late Jack Mahuron who played a key role in the project to restore the historic mill. 

 

Campbellsburg Country Festival

The Campbellsburg Country Festival includes live music performances, craft vendors, food trucks, and free kids games.

 

Friday Night on the Salem Square

Friday Night on the Salem Square is a community festival sponsored by the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. The event takes place on the Historic Salem Square. The event includes food vendors, craft and business vendors and family friendly activities. 

Old Settlers Days

Old Settlers’ Days is an annual, free to the public festival, first established and held for the community in 1875, to commemorate and honor the pioneers who settled the wilderness lands of the Indiana Territory that would eventually become Washington County. Old Settlers' is held in the Pioneer Village within the grounds of the John Hay Center in Salem, Indiana.

Oktoberfest at Beck's Mill

Oktoberfest, celebrating the Beck Family's German Heritage. Featuring Jason Hardin’s campfire beans, flea & craft vendors. Music & many demonstrators at the mill.
